Leopardo's Band Raises a Quarter
Million Dollars for Cancer Research
Liquidated Damages, a group of musicians from Leopardo Construction and its business partners, performed for its sixth straight year at the City of Hope REACH (Real Estate Action Committee for City of Hope) Social fundraiser, the premier real estate fundraiser for pediatric cancer research, treatment and education. Over the last six years of performing, Leopardo Construction’s band has raised $250,000 for City of Hope.
Since being founded in 1996, the City of Hope REACH Committee has raised more than $1.2 million for pediatric cancer research, treatment and education. The highlight of 2007’s event came when legendary guitarist Rick Nielsen, founder of the rock band Cheap Trick, joined Liquidated Damages on stage for several songs.
The 2007 REACH Social, held every year at the House of Blues, raised more than $300,000 in one night, of which $70,000 was generated by Leopardo Construction ticket sales. In addition to Liquidated Damages performance, the REACH Social also featured four other bands comprised of Chicago’s architecture, construction and general real estate communities.
Formed in 1999, Leopardo Construction’s Liquidated Damages plays an eclectic, new set of music every year, crossing every genre. The band, which regularly features guest performers, covers every musician from “Cash to Clash” and was organized primarily for the purpose of playing fundraisers and helping to make a difference in the community.
