Leopardo Completes 400,000-SF Poplar Creek Crossing Shopping Center In Hoffman Estates, Il
HOFFMAN ESTATES Illinois (April 27, 2006) – Leopardo Construction today announced the completion of the Poplar Creek Crossing shopping center in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Poplar Creek Crossing is a 42-acre, 400,000-square-foot A+ regional power center located at the Southwest corner of Routes 59 and 72, just north of I-90.
The new shopping center is anchored by a 124,000-square-foot Target store and joined by other national retailers, including T.J.Maxx, Linens ‘n Things, Michaels Crafts, Cost Plus World Market, OfficeMax, PetSmart, Kirkland’s and others.
The building features blended use of face brick, Prairie Stone and synthetic plaster accents along with ornamental steel canopies. Unique, stepped store front façades were built to give each tenant a unique space. The site includes seven outlots, five additional building pads for future development, more than 600 trees planted on multiple parking lot islands, two keystone retention ponds and nearly 2000 parking spaces.
“This was an extremely aggressive schedule for a project of this magnitude,” said Steve Smith, vice president of Leopardo Construction’s retail group. “The shell construction was just over five months and required the management of multiple subcontractors within the same trade.”
In addition to shell construction, Leopardo also completed the interior build-outs for T.J Maxx, Linens ‘n Things, Michaels Crafts, Cost Plus World Market, OfficeMax and PetSmart.
The Poplar Creek Crossing project team was headed up by the Chicago regional office of the owner/developer Archon Group, L.P., an international, full-service commercial real estate investment and management company.
Leopardo Construction served as the general contractor. O’Brien & Associates, Inc. of Dallas provided the architectural services for the project. Leasing for Poplar Creek Crossing is being handled by Archon’s Chicago office along with Mid-America Asset Management, Inc. of Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.
