Leopardo Construction Completes 16,000-SF ICU Renovation At Provena Mercy Medical Center
AURORA, Illinois (April 27, 2006) – Leopardo Construction, a leading construction services firm, today announced the completion of a 16,000-square-foot renovation project for the intensive care unit (ICU) at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Ill.
Located at 1325 North Highland Avenue, the new unit features 16 private rooms, decentralized nursing stations, support space, conference room, offices, equipment storage and waiting areas.
The space uses wood-like vinyl flooring, light-colored wood finishes on the furnishings and a sage green color on the walls. The 250-square-foot-plus rooms each feature a comprehensive lighting package that includes lay-in fixtures over the beds to function as an exam light/reading light and down-lights throughout the rest of the room to provide multiple light levels. The ICU unit itself is L-shaped due to the existing building design, making for a long spread out footprint.
Only a few months ago in mid-2005, Leopardo Construction completed a 98,000-square-foot surgery center for Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, one of the largest capital initiatives of the Provena Health System. The recently completed surgical addition is now complemented by the new ICU, which is directly adjacent to the operating rooms and includes dedicated beds for open-heart patients.
Leopardo Construction served as general contractor of the project. Proteus Group provided architectural and engineering services with Lindsay & Associates, Inc. as structural engineers. Ruddy Brothers served as the owner’s representative.
