Leopardo Construction Completes 100,000-Square-Foot Interior Build-Out For RR Donnelley
Leopardo Needs Only 16 Weeks to Finish RR Donnelley’s New High-End Corporate Headquarters at 111 S. Wacker Drive in Chicago
CHICAGO, Illinois (October 20, 2005) – Leopardo Construction, a leading construction services firm, today announced the completion of the four-floor, 100,000-square-foot interior build-out of R.R. Donnelley’s new corporate headquarters. RR Donnelley, the world’s premier full-service provider of print and related services, moved from 77 W. Wacker Drive to the brand new 52-story 111 S. Wacker Drive building.
RR Donnelley’s new headquarters features custom ceilings with ornate soffits, cold cathode lighting and over 9,000 square feet of sandblasted glass. The 38th floor houses
RR Donnelley’s high-end executive suite with a board room, catering preparation room and a private library that features upscale millwork with pear wood and custom lacquer panels, as well as climate-controlled display cases to house rare book collections.
As first generation space, Leopardo Construction installed all the infrastructural elements. More than 150 miles of Category 6 voice/data cable, 67 miles of high voltage wire and 16 miles of conduit were used on the project. All material quantities used on the RR Donnelley build-out are listed at the end of this press release.
The finished space also includes three custom washrooms with showers, server rooms on all four floors, a mechanical room with 24/7 heating and cooling, and circular soffits and curved walls in the main lobbies of all four floors.
“Only 16 weeks before completion, Leopardo Construction was staring at 100,000 square feet of empty space. Essentially, a blank canvas,” said Rick J. DuPraw, senior vice president of Leopardo Construction’s interiors group. “With a great design in place, our team of experts worked extremely hard and ran all four floors simultaneously to deliver such a high-class corporate headquarters in less than four months.”
Leopardo Construction served as general contractor of the project. VOA Associates Incorporated provided architectural services and The Irvine Company represented RR Donnelley.
