Site Work Complete, Building Construction Begins On Project That Aims To Achieve LEED Gold Certification
AURORA, Illinois (April 2, 2008) – Leopardo Construction, a leading construction services firm, recently completed site work and began building construction on the new 195,000-square-foot, $70 million Aurora Police Headquarters and Branch Court Facility.
The multi-building public safety campus, located on Indian Trail Road just west of Farnsworth Avenue, will include:
• A three-story 155,000-square-foot police headquarters, branch court facility and 911 center that will house 400 public safety professionals and hundreds of visitors each day
• A separate 40,000-square-foot training and support building for evidence processing and evidence storage
• A separate 200,000-square-foot parking deck for fleet services, employee and public parking
Expected to open in early 2010, the design and construction has great attention on environmental details and is aiming for a Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
The project team includes Hoffman Estates-based Leopardo Construction as primary construction manager with Aurora-based R.C. Wegman managing the construction of the 500-car parking structure and support building. Design architecture services are being provided by Phoenix, Arizona-based McClaren Wilson and Lawrie with Cordogan Clark & Associates as the architect-of-record.
