BEAUFORT, South Carolina (April 2, 2008) – Leopardo Construction was recently awarded the contract to build phase two of the City of Beaufort’s new $14.1 million municipal complex. Leopardo opened its southeast regional office in October 2006.
The second phase of the Municipal Complex is a $6.9 million, 28,000-square-foot city hall building, which will feature large meeting rooms, a grand circular staircase, prominent cupola, and high-end finishes and millwork. The project is anticipated to begin in April 2008 and is expected to be complete in summer 2009.
Leopardo Construction began the first phase of the project – the new police and courts building – in November 2007. The $7.2 million, 35,000-square-foot facility will consolidate the courts, police and administrative operations under one roof. It features state-of-the-art security and mechanical systems, and high-end millwork. The police and courts building is scheduled to be completed in spring 2009.
Both buildings, located at the intersection of Ribaut Road and Boundary Street, will be built with brick and steel, while maintaining a classical design that will include many modern energy-saving features and be able to withstand winds of 130 MPH.
