Leopardo Construction Repositioning Eight Floors and 600,000 SF at Landmark Carson Pirie Scott Building

carsons_big.jpgCHICAGO, Illinois (August 7, 2007) – Leopardo Construction, a leading construction services firm, is gutting eight floors and 600,000 square feet of old retail space at the landmark Carson Pirie Scott building. The demolition job, which will take the building back to its original core and shell, is part of a major repositioning strategy to transform the historic building into a modern, multi-tenant, mixed-use property for retail, commercial and educational tenants.

Located at One South State Street, Carson Pirie Scott occupied the building for more than 100 years until it closed its doors in early 2007 to focus on expansion in other Midwest markets. Positioning the vintage building for a strong future, Leopardo is removing partitioned walls and replacing all its old systems including mechanical, electrical and sprinklers. Demolition will be completely wrapped up by the end of September, leaving approximately 538,000 square feet of rentable space.

Joseph Freed & Associates is the developer and owner with Leopardo Construction serving as general contractor.
