Aurora Police Headquarters & Branch Court Facility
Aurora, the second largest city in Illinois, desperately needed a new facility to house 400 public safety employees and consolidate three bureaus, eleven divisions, a 911 emergency call center and branch court house. To build this $66 million, 200,000-SF headquarters, the City of Aurora partnered with Leopardo as construction manager.
- Three-story 160,000-SF police headquarters, court, 911 call center and emergency operating center
- Separate 40,000-SF training and support building that houses a firearm range, evidence storage, forensic examination laboratories and secure garage
- Separate 200,000-SF parking deck for fleet services, employee and public parking
- 190-foot monopole tower located on a 26-acre site
- State of the art facility that is wind and earthquake resistant
- The project boasts features such as flex dorms for detainees, the largest lead-free tactical firearms range in Illinois, 27% reduction in energy use and 30% reduction in water usage
- New radio system upgraded 911 capability, new fingerprint analysis system - all of which will shorten response times, enhance effectiveness and improve service to the community
- The facility is among the most energy efficient and sustainable police campuses in the United States
- State-of-the-art mist-fire suppression system
- 56 different information technology systems in the building
- Project completed in September 2009
- With great attention to environmental details, the public safety campus is aiming for Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

If someone came to me right now, I'd say you have to take a look at this company. Leopardo, by far, blew away the other companies that we interviewed.
William Powell, Chief of Police
City of Aurora
The building far exceeded expectations. The Village Board continues to be amazed at what Leopardo was able to build for the dollars they put into the project. We actually finished the project early and $200,000 under budget.
L. Patrick Anderson, Chief of Police
Clarendon Hills Police Department
Leopardo had a great deal of respect for the local budget. We would be pleased to work with them again.
