Work Begins on $23 Million Medical Office Building

DuPage Medical Group’s patients will benefit from some of the most advanced medical and diagnostic equipment out on the market come June 2008.  General contractor Leopardo Construction in Hoffman Estates recently broke ground on the $23.5 million project, a 92,000-square-foot facility that will house pediatrics, orthopedics and internal medicine departments.



Medical Office Buildings Have Specialized Needs

For even the most experienced construction companies, medical office buildings present some unique challenges.  The niche office product requires intensive plumbing and extra power to accommodate electricity-sucking medical equipment such as computer tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines.  Leopardo Construction started building medical office facilities in 1996 and has grown the business to $85 million a year in revenues.  The company also builds traditional and industrial structures. 



Leopardo Completes Two Hospital Projects, Receives Awards

Leopardo Construction announced completion of Northern Illinois' first CyberKnife radiosurgery system project at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. The CyberKnife project was part of a larger renovation of Northwest Community's cancer center. Leopardo also announced the completion of a 12,732-square-foot surgery center build-out at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Leopardo was named 2006 contractor of the year by the Coalition for United Community Action.




Leopardo Completes Two Medical Center Additions

Leopardo Construction has completed two medical center additions in Illinois. Construction is complete on a 12,732-square-foot surgery center build-out at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. In addition, Leopardo has completed construction on the first CyberKnife Radiosurgery System project in northern Illinois at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.




GC Completes Surgery Center
August 2006

Leopardo Construction has completed the 13,880-square-foot Tri-Cities Surgery Center, a single-story addition to Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva. The surgery center features three state-of-the-art procedure rooms and two gastrointestinal procedure rooms with supporting recovery bays and sub-sterile areas.

Ground Broken on Emergency Department for Swedish Covenant

Leopardo Construction has broken ground for Swedish Covenant Hospital’s expanded and renovated emergency department. The department will include 11,000 square feet of new space to accommodate patients and staff. The estimated completion date for the $10 million project is spring 2007.




Building Boom Continues, Experts Sought

As many are trying their hands at healthcare construction and design, those with experience have the edge. In a show of strength of experience and relationships, Leopardo Construction last fall finished construction on the 20,700 square foot Surgical Center of DuPage Medical Group in Lombard, Illinois. It was the 14th project Leopardo had completed for DMG in a three-year stretch.
