Leopardo Construction and Swedish Covenant Hospital recently broke ground on an expanded and renovated emergency department. Hospital consolidations and the closing of neighboring hospitals spurred the need to expand their current operations to accommodate an increasing patient census and prepare for future demands.

The expanded/renovated department will include:

• 11,000-SF of new space to accommodate patients and staff

• Enhanced visitor lounge for patient comfort

• 10 new additional examination rooms to reduce waiting time

• Enlarged patient triage area to ensure privacy

• Home décor designed specifically to nurture patients and loved ones

• Air treatment system to strengthen response to public health threats

• Separate entrances for ambulances and pedestrians to facilitate traffic flow
